My Practice

December 2022

Holli L. Brown

The last five years I have experienced a significant change in my practice. I have focused on transitioning my clients from massage in concert with energy healing to a 50/50 experience to now, full-time in-person and distance energy healing. This transition away from massage has happened somewhat organically yet also with full intention.

The Covid years proved to be very taxing for health practitioners and I definitely felt the challenge of holding sacred space and offering healing to my clients through the stress and uncertainty of the pandemic. I created a restoring space and protocol to keep myself and my clients healthy and safe, while attending to their health goals. This was a wonderful way for me to grow professionally with a full, vibrant and trusting clientele.

My personal and professional growth has fostered my ability to be a respected counsel for clients, family and friends. I often attend to those recovering from surgery and am called upon regularly to help with assessing energetic forces impacting their lives and health. I have discovered I must keep clear and prioritize my time and vitality to be most effective, not simply responding to every request. Keeping my own field attended to is so important; I continue to trade monthly with my HT mentor, colleague and friend Sharon Fletcher HTP as well as a local Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner. My own practice of meditation, self-care and reflection support keeping myself balanced and centered.

I have built a new community of fellow healers through participating monthly with the Art of Raising Frequency community circle (Barbara Evans) where we share best practices and raise vibration as a group for the greater good. I follow practitioners on Instagram and Facebook which also helps to keep me connected to others. Living on an island makes interacting with the WA State HT community more challenging. I registered for a sacred geometry class with Cynthia Hutchison last fall but this was canceled due to Covid. I sincerely miss the HT community and look forward to more opportunities to reconnect. I recently rejoined HTPA at the encouragement of a HT colleague and hope this link will fill some of that void.

I am excited to continue to build my full-time energy healing practice. This includes both in-person and distance healing. I am developing a strategy to utilize the power of word-of-mouth advertising of my energy healing offerings. This has proven to be most effective for my massage practice here in the islands. I also hope that covid restrictions will be lifted at the Cancer Care Center locally so I may return to offering support for those receiving infusions. I plan to certify in the Art of Raising Frequency in the next five years as I find this modality to be very effective combined with techniques of Healing Touch and other energy practices. Educating locals about the power of energy medicine is an opportunity to explore, especially as people feel more at ease in group settings once again. I continue to be honored to be a member of the Healing Touch community as a certified practitioner.

Growth in My Healing Touch Practice

The healer must have the ability of the human mind
to stretch, to record, to discover and to formulate truth.
Alice Bailey, Esoteric Healing

Reflecting on my certified Healing Touch practice over the last five years I am struck by how much I have grown as a person and as a professional. Beginning my practice as a HTCP in 2012 was focused on shifting from a massage focus to an energy focus. What I have discovered over the years is that it is really not about the label of the work itself but rather the fabric of how healing is applied, allowed and encouraged.

My massage practice has taken on a deeper healing quality and when integrated with energy therapy it becomes a healing modality in and of itself. I continue to partner my skills of massage and energy therapy and in doing so, educate my clients while inviting them to a deeper possibility of self-healing. I bring education to my clients as I share my insights and, always create opportunity for dialogue and discovery. I have never been about “fixing” my clients but this philosophy and approach has become a personal commitment the longer I work with healing touch.

I have expanded my offerings and grown in confidence since certification. I traveled to new cities last year and worked with many new clients. This took me to a new level of surety and presence to be away from my sacred healing space. I found it to be very motivating to bring my skills forward in a new setting and create the healing space where I was working. With these travels I have expanded my distance healing practice. I work with clients at a distance offering healing touch and vibrational therapy. This portion of my practice is such fun and I love the freedom of working purely on the wavelength of healing energy! My clients find my treatments very effective and I will continue to find ways to expand this work.

For our HT community, I was an integral part of the strategic development of our profession over the last four years. I was a Co-Leader of the Insurance Initiative Committee sponsored by HTPA July 2013-April 2017. This work connected me with many people inside the HT community as well as outside our community in the health care industry. I learned so much about how energy medicine can become an accepted and integral component of alternative care. Being involved in such an important project kept me motivated for the four years of my volunteer effort. I continue to believe in the future of healing touch as a modality covered by third-party payers.

Personally, I have grown and evolved, sharing my growth regularly on my website blog. Writing this blog brings me to a place of vulnerability but also expresses my courage and confidence. I am grateful for many years of journaling and sharing my writings with others to ease me into this vulnerability. My blog also allows me to contribute to the development of others as they find nuggets that speak to their own challenges and successes. I often receive comments when I share my blog on Facebook of how my insights have helped another face a challenge in their life. My professional Facebook page is also a place where I share teachings, insights, healing touch happenings and current research.

As I look ahead to the next five years of my practice, I am very excited to take my community to a new level of understanding of energy medicine. Networking with other healers here on San Juan Island will be key. I have applied to work as a contractor at our hospital Cancer Care Center offering healing touch. I am also planning to receive Doula training in End-of-Life. I know this will be another way I can bring my knowledge to my community and grow as a healer. Now that I live on the West side of my state, I hope to connect often with colleagues through education and social gathering opportunities as well.
